When to Seek Help

Some causes of infertility affect just one partner, while others affect both partners. Risk factors for infertility include:

  • For Women Under 35 - If you’ve been trying to get pregnant for 12 months (1 year) or more without success and not using birth control, it’s time to see a fertility doctor.
  • For Women Aged 35 and Over - If you’re 35 years or older, visit a fertility specialist if you’ve been trying for 6 months without getting pregnant.
  • For Women Aged Over 40 - If you’re over 40, you should consult a fertility expert right away if you’re planning or trying to conceive.
